OBSTETRIC ANAESTHESIA
The obstetric department is busy with around 6,500 deliveries per year. The CDS is located in the Cotswold unit opposite the Brunel building.
Dr Ben Ballisat (Ben.Ballisat@nbt.nhs.uk) is our current lead consultant for obstetric anaesthesia.
Dr Helen Johnston (Helen.Johnston@nbt.nhs.uk) is lead for education in obstetric anaesthesia, and also heads up the South West Maternal Medicine Network. If you need HaLOs in obstetric anaesthesia, please add Helen as a clinical supervisor on your portfolio.
We can cater for all stages of your training. 'Novice' obstetric anaesthetists will have 6 weeks of supervised work before starting work on-call.
Stage 2 training resources include maternal medicine sessions - see here for further info, and liaise with Dr Helen Johnston to arrange your involvement.
Anyone working in Obstetrics is required to attend the NBT Prompt Course and also undergo Badgernet training, if not already done at another Trust.
