PERIOPERATIVE MEDICINE

All stages of training can be accommodated as part of our perioperative medicine module. Stage 3 SIA is also offered, supervised by Anna Davey Anna.Davey@nbt.nhs.uk. A specific perioperative timetable with educational opportunities is usually sent at the beginning of your attachment at NBT. These can either be attended during ‘self-roster’ sessions, or as part of a designated perioperative training module. It is advisable to contact the teams to organise them in advance to ensure they are available and you get the most out of the sessions.

At Stage 2 you will be rostered for approx 1 week of perioperative medicine sessions - as per your on-call rota. It is worth contacting Anna a couple of weeks prior to your week to plan your time. Options include:

- CPEX (please arrange by calling our secretaries who will help with clinic dates)

- IV iron clinic

- Complex Care clinic (led by Care of the Elderly physicians)

- MDT meetings: vascular, bariatric, adrenal

- Radiology meetings

You are not expected to sign off this HaLO until near the end of your stage of training, but evidence from this week should cover a good breadth of what is required outside of theatres for this HaLO.

We cannot guarantee a designated week of perioperative medicine to all our trainees, but we try to accommodate as many requests as we can. This module can be completed at other Trusts in region.
